Question about gaming and UMPC's: Anyone have input

Too bad it's currently fictional. The Asus N10 is basically the same thing, except it's a netbook instead of a handheld.

You barely have gaming capable netbook right now, and handheld are always going to cost a lot more than a laptop. You would be lucky to get a handheld capable of gaming for under $1000, and they are not going to drop below $800 for a long, long while, plain and simple.

Also, do you have a Pandora pre-order? The next batch is not till at least late summer.

I suggest not buying the pandora , and getting a SmartQ 5 MID (I have been chatting with a SmartQ engineer about specs) and this thing is gonna be a monster of a linux device, and only $131 USD to boot!

Thing is I like the design of the pandora. The clam-shell design. It just looks cooler to me that way.

Edit: It has everything in one place. It has capability, mobility and gaming all in one place (with the digital gaming controls). I dont know, I think I'm gunna stick with the pandora. I'm bulding a gaming PC any way. Its mostly for Quake 3 and quake team fortress and stuff like that. Plus, I want something more powerful than the PSP and DS (which I have both); Because then you can make better homebrew stuff for it. Another thing is I'm going to buy a netbook or something like that either way. So I can play x86 games on the go as well. Just going to wait to see what comes out before the end of the summer.

RAON DIGITAL EVERUN NOTE! i just got mine today (bought it on ebay for a great price) and their a little powerhouse when their plugged in! about as fast as an average netbook on battery but with ATI graphics a gig of ram and a dual core 1.2ghz processor it will play most games pretty well, and they usually cost 800-900$ new depending on your OS choice! check out my videos of it and there are others on youtube playin games on them!

My T61 cost me $1300. 3 gigs ram, 2.6ghz C2D T8300, Nvidia NVS1400 or some crap like that, 128MB graphics card, 14" wxga+ lcd.

That was also a year ago, you can get what I got for $900 used now off eBay.

As far as the OQO, I saw the PopSci ad too, it looks pretty wicked.

Pandora has taken too long to come out. I understand for £99, next month, Next and Marks & Spencers are going to sell a mini handheld PC for £99; looks like it has a 7" screen, although I don't know its specs. Frankly, for £99, you could probably make some emulators auto-boot and play them, so taking away the need for a keyboard, and making a game system portable with proper buttons and d-pad; or making an overlay with the same.

I want to get a Raon Everun Note but the only thing is; on ebay there from japan and they run linux. I've never used linux. Would it better to have the linux one version?

I mean, that's so implausibly difficult to do though!
You'd have to make the kernel support buffered TCP/IP over RFC 2324 using a recompiler! Or just uplink the hypertext preprocessor's STDOUT into the USB multiplexer and program the FPGA to do raw R4300 packet shifting through OpenGL. That method is a lot easier on the vector unit, but it isn't compatible with certain Z80 switches (typically those using Secure Digital RAID-2 and OR gates), so you'd need some sort of emulation vertex wrapper, and if you ask me, that's just a might bit too difficult.
