Sega Meg Drive Portable + MicroSD?

Post by Dary »

Hello Dudes!

I would have a question.

I buy one Blaze Sega Mega Drive Portable machine :) (segaretro.net)

Good the 20 games, but a couple of good titles are missing.
EG: Streets of rage, SF, Cool Spot, Sonic 1 2, etc.

My question: Possible, that swap 20 games in other games?

or integrated one microsd slot? + some MB microsd card with roms+menu?

Wait your answer.

You'd have to figure out the ROM format, as there is likely only one ROM inside it containing the cart images, and replace with your own flash chip flashed in the required way. As for the micro-SD card slot, no, not without something in between to read the microSD card and emulate flash.

I am continually amazed at how often this one gets asked. And I continually tell people, you will need to do a LOAD of engineering to get this to work. If you are very skilled you can do it, but this kind of project is very large.
Emulation isn't accurate. There is no substitute for real hardware!

You can buy a NeoMD and do the cart slot mod, then you can have all the games you want. :D

Or, buy this. Not good for a portable, but for home use, it would work great:

Thanks dudes :)

Hmm, NeoMD is very good, but not portable.

New question :D

Sega Mega Drive Portable rom chip is flash memory read write?

If onto a yes's, i see NeoMD usb cable+chip, and rewrite...

It would not be possible to rewrite it on USB cable builtin roms in Sega Blaze?

Only 4 cable :)

No.

Very unlikely even if it did have EEPROM.

Correct, non-programmable ROM chip inside. You'd have to back engineer the format and flash your own chip to replace the one inside. Not easy.
