Spelling and Grammar Nazis Unite

Post by bicostp »

I, for one, am very annoyed with the improper use of grammar and spelling by the umpteen-million guests we are getting now. Here's a thread for all of us who type English to have intelligent conversation.

I just know this is going to be locked by a moderator in 5 minutes!

**NOTE** I am NOT promoting nazi-ism in the WWII kind of way. I am using the word as a metaphor to strictly believing in one's beliefs.

It's "improper", not "imporper".
And you're a spelling nazi you say?
Edit:
Also, if you've read Ben's policy update you'd realize that guests can no longer post on the forums.

Oh come on, the spelling around here isn't so bad really. There are at most about ~5 people whose posts are unreadable on the whole forum.

Ok heres the low down. The only way we could imporve spelling and grammar is if we got a spell check (or something simalar) on the forums. I dont think PHP offers that (ofcouse I dont know anything about it begin with) so its pointless to get worked over it.

And just we do have some people that need to go get a toutor and learn how to spell or type which ever is their biggest problem.

Wrong. http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=208855

We really have a spell check. It would make life much easier.

I very rarely spell things wrong, they are just typing mistakes I sometimes make when I'm tired, because L33T pisses me off and I hate incorrect spelling because it makes things hard to read *points to peppers*

People should just pay attention in Spelling/English classes at school. Then we wouldn't have a problem.

I don't mind bad spelling and grammer really. I think it's actually more anal and stupid to flame people for spelling a word wrong.

Maybe I'm biased cuz I can't spell worth a tinker's damn. I dunno. I don't even mind "slang" or "leet" that much... one of my trash-talk bind keys on MOHAA says "n e 1 else?"

This is a forum, not a spelling bee! And let the guests/new members spell badly all they want, if they're here it means they bought my book!
