What batteries are in it again?
Are the batteryspace ones over budget?

I just read this entire thread and it is really interesting and well documented.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you! As I progress, I hope to flesh out the original post to be a bit more detailed.I just read this entire thread and it is really interesting and well documented.
Yeah, the batteryspace units were a bit above what I was looking for in the amp-hour rating I wanted (6000+). So, I found something similar to this:What batteries are in it again?
Are the batteryspace ones over budget?

That isn't the exact brand, but it's identical, and for the same price as the one I picked up. Came with a charger, too, but I think it's going to be almost useless.

I actually meant "What batteries are in it, are the batteryspace CPCs over-budget?"

Heh, no they aren't outside of the budget. Heck, here's one for $3.50:

My main problem is ensuring that it will actually work for what I need. I'll get there eventually. And while I'm at it, I need to see if there's any real safety considerations getting those cases apart - heard too many horror stories about these things going off like bombs when exposed to oxygen.
Bondo going on the case today.

Wow, it's been a while since I've worked with Bondo.
For those who haven't made their own cases yet, or used Bondo before, don't expect the stuff to go on smoothly - it will clump, scrape, and get rather grainy as you're working with it. The trick is to quit using your batch when it gets too dry. You'll know when that happens when you try to apply a spot of it and it just kind of scoots around and doesn't stay put.
Also, don't do what I just did and try to apply it in 30 degree weather. Here's some pics, anyway:
Full-frontal of the case:

Here is a crappy Photoshop idea of where I'm going with this:

Obviously, a little more sanding needs to be done before I start the next layer of Bondo. Just wanted to provide a "where-I'm-at" post.

Hah, third post in a row. Ah well, it's a work log, right?
Here's the final coat of Bondo before I start using spot putty:

Ah, soon soon comes the paint - I can't wait.

And here's the basecoat:

Obviously, I'm never going to win any awards with this thing, but I'm just going for functional anyway.

Is that pixelated JPEG an N64p case?
It looks pretty good, don't see any flaws.

I admit, most of my pic posting has been showing off my new nifty Canon Powershot S5 IS.
I took that in very, very low light, taken with no flash - I'm surprised it came out at all. After I get the final coat of paint on it, I'll post a good clear pic. There are plenty of flaws, trust me, but it'll be more than passable.

Oh well, your choice. I prefer no flaws.
But so far, more than I have done.

Ok, here's the final-ish coat of paint. Has a couple areas needing some touch up, but eh, watcha gonna do.

Now... off to the trading section. Anyone wanna guess why?

Re: Economic N64p STATUS: Locating CPC. Total cost: $103
Nope - ended up with some missing buttons from the Yobo controller. I'll either have to track down a replacement, or figure some other route. Might just do some generic buttons with tact switches.
Re: Economic N64p STATUS: Locating CPC. Total cost: $103
Tact switches=suckyness. Get some squishy tacts or something.
