That's vernacular, and clip became mingled during the age of rap when "strap" became a perfectly fine word for a firearm. A clip is merely a guide that allows the rounds to be loaded into an affixed magazine, usually in bolt-action rifles. A magazine is a storage device that uses springs to ascend the next round.

Yeah but in gun slang they mean the same even though you load your mauser with a clip and you ar-15 with a mag

And I'm sure you speak this with confidence when you buy your firearms at your local store.

I'm just saying, if you don't want to sound like an idiot around people who own firearms don't call them a clip. Real gun slang is calling a magazine a mag. You just proved that yourself.

Ahh if you call them by their proper names that isnt slang, thats just using correct english.

When I saw the 1st post pic I thought you guys were designing the specs for a tommy light gun.

Actually that would be extremly awesome to blow away ducks on Duck Hunt with that kind of gun.

Although, it would be better with some kind of a "turbo trigger", where holding it down would litter the duck with bullet holes.

I'm stunned that stumbling across this topic today has unleashed such a cool idea into my head.

I'll have to ponder more on this.
