No, it doesn't. It is a little loud compared to some of the newer keyboards. My parents' gateway keyboard from an original Gateway profile that I got for free is much louder. My favorite one that I own would probably be my 14 year old Dell Quiet touch.

My favorite keyboard is my $5 Logitech one where I took out all the keys and moved them around one day when I was bored.

It's fine as long as you leave F and J in place (assuming you can touch type).

I've memorized where the keys are on my keyboard, so even if they were hopelessly out of order, I could still type with relative ease.

I have myself a Das 3 Ultimate keyboard.
Expensive sucker, but I actually got it as a gift.



As close as I can really get to an IBM Model M really, I don't have near the money for one of those.
The clicky keys aren't *quite* as nice as a Model M's keys, if you ask me, but damn close I must say.


I can type roughly 70 wpm average, but my absolute highest has been 115. (I've yet to break 105 again)

Why wouldn't they sell it under the name "Model M" if that were the case?
They're amazingly desirable.

I guess I can't judge what silly Unicomp does with their products...

(I'm not saying you're wrong, it's true, Unicomp does own the rights to the Buckling Spring technology.)

loud keyboards ftw i <3 my IBM model Ms! i have an M13 (aka IBM trackpoint II) and a standard model M, both ps/2 but my current favorite is my cherry mini ML4100. its small but awesome to type on its a Point Of Sale terminal keyboard with half height keys (like an old laptop keyboard) super well built and its dimensions are 5.25" x 11 or so. using typingtest.net (1 minute on the zebra test) i can average 55+ WPM with 95+% accuracy, or nearly 70wpm at 85+% accuracy
