pandora's batteries in 20 years? omfg! the psp has no good games unlike the nes, which is why people still like the nes, psps will not be around for anything in 20 years other than collecter's items.

No one wants to develop for a system if the games can be pirated super easy. It's what killed the Dreamcast.

No it wasn't, it was competition from the PS2. Copying of the games wasn't possible until a few years after its demise.

that's not what I heard...and if that WAS the case, then why did they make a Rev 3 (identified with a circled 3 on the bottom of the system, as opposed to a circled 1 or 2) that couldn't run bootlegs and other self-boot discs? The Dreamcast would've held up just fine against the PS2: it was cheap, there were lots of fun games, 4 controller ports made it a party system, it actually had better 2D capabilities as well as more texture RAM, there was lots of mini-game potential with the VMUs, it was very similar to the NAOMI arcade hardware, and the list goes on. PS2 only had slightly better graphics and the advantages of DVDs for storage (and playback). I guarantee you that piracy is what killed the DC, or at least developer perception of piracy. Hell, even with only a 2 year life span the DC has a better library than the Game Cube.

I wouldn't say that piracy killed it. It was low sales in comparison to the other consoles that hurt it more than anything. The xbox even lost money, but microsoft wanted to keep a hold in the console market. And the majority of end users still didn't pirate the games at all. Those are just a small percentage that did, and even fewer would have actually bought all of the games.

You must not have been old enough or in on the scene enough to remember what it was like in 99, but back then EVERYONE wanted a Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was the first console to break out of the diarrhea textures of the N64 or the pixelated/unstable 3D of the playstation. Sales were VERY strong until developers started dropping out from reports of piracy. To this day almost everyone says "oh yeah, I love(d) that system" any time the Dreamcast gets mentioned.

Regardless of what the reality of the situation is, once a developer learns it is easy to pirate games for a system, they immediately jump ship to develop for another, harder to pirate system. There is no other reasonable excuse for there not being more games for the PSP either: on paper the PSP should have as many if not more PS2 quality titles and should certainly be outclassing the DS, but since piracy is so easy for the PSP, developers refuse to release anything but shovelware.

That's a moot point, if the games are there, $30 is chump change, especially considering how many levels above the DS the PSP is in terms of graphical grunt.

It is a valid point; he was explaining why the DS is winning. Parents will go for the cheaper console, end of story. That is how the Gameboy beat the Gamegear, or at least a major factor in that. It did not matter than the gamegear was 10x as powerful and had a color screen; Cheaper always wins.

I bought it for Brawl. That is the only game I have right now, and the wii is justified by it.

eurdrue, you and me are going to be great friends. I dislike the wii. I don't HATE it, but dislike it. It just seems to bore me. In fact the only game I really like is te wii golf game. Don't get me wrong, there are good games for it, but it just seems that nintendo isn't what it used to be. I would honestly buy a 360 or ps3 before i got a wii. I love my DS though, no hate there.

gba is my fav still, then ds. Wii is more for "ordinary" people as opposed to people who actually have fun playing videogames. I mean moms even buy a wii just so they can stay "fit" lolz they aren't gonna lose weight by playing the wii.

lol exactly. also, who pays $80 for wii fit, a game that can be played for free with the help of a good old fashioned work out. heck, you don't even need a wii to play that game! What next, nintendo, a wii game that teaches greasy nerds personal hygene?
