Re: Let's be serious for a second.
I think it is fairly certain that neither me or SS can be serious for a second.
Re: Let's be serious for a second.
An advantage of an "Off Topic" (aka. Spam) board is that you can ignore it easier. Don't want to see it? Don't click it!

Hence why I said this:ShockSlayer wrote:SSI wrote:Although it doesn't seem like a good idea to me, I think we should generate a poll on a spam board: we don't have to implement it, but it would give a general idea of who is where.
Are we clear now? I hope so.Twilight Wolf wrote:Sounds good to me, I'd be interested to know where public opinion lies.

Same goes for any thread. Don't want to read it? Don't click it.Aguiluz wrote:An advantage of an "Off Topic" (aka. Spam) board is that you can ignore it easier. Don't want to see it? Don't click it!

Except that the "off topic" threads are segregated and out of the way. Out of sight, hopefully out of mind (for the people who don't like it).Rekarp wrote:Same goes for any thread. But what if they actually contain useful information, or good conversation? We just simply do NOT have enough members/traffic to fill up a whole spam section with pointless topics.

Excellent

If a mod sees it, I think we should, just for the heck of it, make a poll. Because we don't always have to be serious, as Rekarp and I have mentioned.

Re: Let's be serious for a second.
Why would we want to have a spam section to fill with pointless topics anyway - what function would it serve? Also, I notice fairly often these days, anything down to only 19 people viewing the forum and many of them "guests". That is really low...palmertech wrote:We just simply do NOT have enough members/traffic to fill up a whole spam section with pointless topics.
Re: Let's be serious for a second.
How about an offtopic section moderator who's job is to control the offtopic section?bicostp wrote:Yay. More work for the mods and admins.

Nah, there's a reason we don't have mini-mods anymore.Aguiluz wrote:How about an offtopic section moderator who's job is to control the offtopic section?bicostp wrote:Yay. More work for the mods and admins.

Re: Let's be serious for a second.
Now, now, I'm sure they do their best. Piling more work on them wouldn't help matters, though, and I can definitely understand the impracticality of a spam board: even if it could be fun and allow people to make blog-type posts about their days, I don't know if it really would get enough traffic to warrant it, or, conversely, kill any and all traffic Forum 42 currently has.
