gaming pc in a 360 case

What is your part list? Unless you are using some small motherboards, and slim PCI cards, this probably won't fit. Also, the 360 overheat enough on its own; Putting in a gaming PC would likely not work due to the heat dissipation requirements alone.

IBM CPUs are known for getting hot. I might do this, myself. You could use ribbon risers for any cards that may be too big.

The difference with ours (built it with a buddy) was that we didn't cut the case bottom. Most people do to gain an extra half-inch of space. We used a mini-itx motherboard and a laptop hard drive and optical drive (located in the cart slot, of course!). The power button was wired for power (duh) and the reset... you can figure it out.

The point of it is the irony. A 360 is capable of superior graphics to any PC you could fit inside of it, so it kind of misses the point. That being said, this is the forum of "Why not?" so if you still want to do it, go for it.

I'd do it for the why not. You *might* be able to fit some decent hardware in there; I'll have to try it, myself.

Good - it's really the way to do it. When I was looking at other people's NES PCs, probably about 5 of them were very detailed, and every single one cut the bottom out. Glad to know someone else thought that doing so was undesirable.

Nonetheless, that's not the topic at hand.

well i plan to have 2gb of ram from one stick

as long as it can run battle field heroes then im happy plus then ive got a pc to take to uni with me

Just looking at my xbox 360 now, you can do it for sure, but cooling will be a problem. Also, you're going to have to cut up the case and patch some holes to get the back ports right.

the psu will sit out side

and i was going to put a gpu in there i know heat will be a big issue here but my mate showed me a huge water cooling/fan that would reduce heart a lot since there will be a huge hole so i can actualy fit in in there

it will have two fans out the side however one will be part of the gpu but i may attach a different fan to that / a grill so i dont get electricuted when using it
