I had another idea that would not be as cool, but is less "electronics" intensive:

How about mounting two IR leds to the bottom of a joystick cap, with the IR sensor of the wiimote mounted underneath? When you moved the joystick, the wiimote would think IT was moving, and respond accordingly.

If you don't get my idea, I could draw a quick MSpaint of my idea.

You could even do something as simple as a IR dongle that you can wave in front of the sensor.

A bit Heath Robinson - nice idea but I imagine the joystick would be large, or the responsiveness too critical...

I rather think the retro systems are the only systems worth making as portables; there are more than the standard set we do; but modern systems need "wavy sticks", which rather loses the point of being an integrated portable.

i am very glad im not the only one that thinks my idea of putting a mini projector in the end of a wiimote is stupid =D

and bacteria, you have got a point, retro consoles are the better to make portable, unless you can somehow fit a PS3 or 360 motherboard and everything else they use inside of the sized case that you had used for your Playstation one portable...

which would be very hard, probably easier on the wii, but then you will need to get the sensor working, which will be a problem...

I think the Wii is small enough to portablize (realistically). Its biggest downfalls are power consumption and peripheral control systems. If an IR stick could be used to navigate the home screen, you could still call it a GC portable, or a Virtual Console portable. That's still pretty retro if you ask me.

It's better N64 emulation than my laptop.
Plus, 4 player support.

Totally worth $10 a game.

The Virtual Console itself is a great idea. The store is terrible.

Which is why I inject roms of all the games I have.

But it's still not HD. It's standard definition, but supports progressive scan (ED or enhanced definition). The N64 games look far better on the computer than they do on the Wii, for the most part.

Look it up. Not too easy if you lack hex editing skills, though. I always knew getting into the pokemon ROM hacking scene would be useful for SOMETHING.

I'm still waiting the n64 emulator ported to the wii to at a playable level. until then I've still got SNES9x and other emulators with no rom-injection needed.

Virtual Console is pointless. It was intended to entice retro lovers to the Wii. But you can get a (slightly) better experience with emulators on PC for free. And if you are really into it, you don't use emulation of any kind. You buy the real hardware.
