All i know is when i move out of my parents house i will now have any kind of paid subscription television service (neither cable nor satellite). because i dont watch that much TV at all anyway. i will have the fastest internet i can afford and thats about it!

So you'd probably get DSL? Because (at least with Crapcast) you have to at least get the cheapest basic cable TV package (usually just your local OTA transmissions) in order to get cable internet.

of course! in my area i can get DSL at up to 15mbps connection rate (my current is 1.5mbps) and its probably cheaper than cable! plus i doubt they are as bad about throttling and stuff than mediacom in our area. my friends cable net has been out for several days now.

I assume you mean Comcast, in which case, that's false. I have Comcast Internet access and nothing else. As you guys said, most stuff worth watching is on Hulu or can be downloaded.

I have cable internet and cable tv but I don't know if you have to get both. Everyone in Canada has cable anyway* so it doesn't make much difference.

By the way, if you don't have cable in Canada you get CBC and pretty much nothing else.

Not in Niagara. I get all of Buffalo OTA channels (But I can't get the digital channels becasue my antenna is behind my TV and the walls block the states, also Might have to now move my homemade antenna up onto the attic to get DTV channels from Buffalo) and thenn all of toronto's stations. I get atleast 10-15 channels from Toronto area, and then maybe another 5-15 channels from the states. In HD too! Now I just gotta find a way to keep som other channels that are on basic cable but not OTA...then I can cancel internet completly and go with TekSavy internet!

In the UK its been quite smooth, ive had virtually no problems with digital TV, been watching it since about 2005 i think (cant remember exactly when we got our freeview box, but it was quite a while ago).

I wouldnt say it was a better picture, it was mostly the same of the terrestrial analoge and hardly ever skips or distorts. Also im not in a strong TV area anyway (We couldn't recieve Channel 5 on analoge, i know that will mean nothing to you but the one or two other UK people will probably know what im on about ). We're just running it off of our old TV aerial thats stuck to the top of our house for probably the last 30 years .

I noticed a huge difference, especially when it's hooked up through the composite input. My grandmother is using he 50 year old antenna on the HDTV. It actually picks up the signal much better than the other ones ($30+) that we got for the other TVs.
