Also, don't think I forgot my promise to show off my new LED mod for the PSone! I just got some LED backlight strips meant for laptops, many, many ultra-bright SMT LEDs on a strip. I should be able to just stick the strip where the PSone screen backlight used to be, for EXTREMELY even lighting, very bright, and only 300ma for the whole strip! Will be far, far brighter than the CCFL in the original.

300mA?!? That's about as much as the original backlight.

And if it's far brighter, won't the picture look washed-out?

Less breakable
Allows more to be cut off the mobo
Less heat
Better colors
Better brightness

As for washing out, I will have to see. I doubt it will look bad, all these things have SOME tolerance.

Bright, lighter, and better brightness are all the same thing. Also better colors would mean it isn't washed out so I'd say you don't know that for sure yet...

I just don't see the real benefit if it draws the same current.

When I meant lighter, I meant as in weight savings.

Also, I just remembered something: This is 300ma at 3.7v. not 300ma at 7.5v. Big difference.

And you are right, this all comes down to if it washes it out or not. I just got the final parts today, if I am lucky I will be done tomorrow.

How are you regulating to 3.7? Unless you split them up into two series of LEDs in parallel (which I would suggest).

Skyone, I may do what you suggested. I was just going to run them off the 3.3v from my TI reg, if it can handle that.

And that would only be 150ma at 7.4v, which is decent.
