I think 3/4 of the people there will be mods/admins and we are almost all over 18 - some a bit older.

I would love to know you guy's secret to letting your parents (if your below eighteen) let you all stay in one room with people you've only knew over the internet
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

To tell the truth, I'd be more worried about planning on sharing a room with just 1 person from the Internet that you haven't met. You never know if that "kid" is some weird stalker or something, and it's hard if they're the one with the hotel reservation. I think that the way we started out was pretty good. Me, gannon, and G-force "knew" each other for a couple years, so we ended up splitting a room. I figured that if one of them ended up being creepy, there'd be 2 of us to throw them out :P

All went well, and we got to know each other, along with Triton pretty well. Also briefly met CronoTriggerFan and wallydawg. I think that helped people feel ok about it, since we all knew each other in-person as well as online.

Places like this have an advantage, too. If you're a stalker, a video game forum would be prime "hunting grounds." However, this place requires some pretty good technical know-how to fit in. If you were a stalker, would you do the research and fit in, or go somewhere else and get what you want quicker? Kind of a morbid way of thinking about it, but it's true.

And thus Sponge's secret comes out - he's been waiting for years to kidnap someone from these forums.

Very true. If I was a stalker I wouldn't be here for six months continous actually posting relevant information. Most people just come here to make a Xbox 360 laptop before realizing its almost impossible to a n00b and then the ones who have intrest stay for awhile and actually learn about this stuff. Ah well, I'm not the type of person who rushes into things, I'll try for MGC next year I suppose, I wouldn't ask for BH suite now though because I wouldn't let someone I never knew very well stay in the room with me (He could be a serial killer or WORSE: a fanboy). Now I'm starting to ramble so I will shut up.

At the same time, you can't let your guard down. You just gotta know how to be safe.

Na, I'm not that selfish. It sucks that you wont be able to make it. Well try and give Sponge or one of us a call while we're there. It'd be nice to have you check in.

-Sparkfist
Well Spark I booked some plane tickets already. Issue is you still need to bring a TV :P and I still need one
*shakes fist violently*

Fine, I guess a 26" will be better then a 20" anyways. And on that note I will be asking someone to help me move stuff, as I will be bring other stuff to the MGC then the TV so if any of you have a strong back I'll need it.

Oh are we doing the typically thing while there, like hit up the place that sells burritos that make people say, "It's like eating a baby!", or not?

They're right you know. Gannon had no idea what I could have done after picking him up in the U.P. I could have just as well killed him, consumed him to gain his technological power, then went on to the Benheck suite and done terrible things to people that haven't met me before. *sinister laugh*

Na, really I do understand you're parents views. CronoTriggerfan had his dad with him last year, and I think after meeting some of us he wasn't so worried. The only way you'd get to go is if you could prove to you're parents that you can handle the situations that could happen, and that you will be careful. And that is extremely hard, but it's do-able.

Yeah, that is my current problem.

Bringing a parent with me would be fine and dandy with me, but convincing one of my parents to go to a gaming convention may be harder than convincing them to let me go myself.

My dad said he'd go with me. He isn't worried, he said if anyone tried to get me he'll kick them in the nuts.

The only problem is tickets. I have to pay for me and my supervisor's (my dad's) ticket. That's about $800 total. :? What's the best airline in the US? Cheapest?

And how do you get portables past airport security? Walk in playing it? Or convince the guards to let you turn it on to show them. :P

Ask SpongeBuell. He is helpful, and somewhat in charge, as I gather. :D

As for the portable, be playing it.
