The only explanation I can come up with for why it didn't work is that ER's amp draw numbers for the GC could possibly be wrong, as I was getting the correct output in amps and volts from the TI cards, according to thier data sheet.
Believe me, if powering the GC off of 7.2v was easy, I would have already done it. So far, the GC can only be powered like this IN THEORY.
There is, one last thing I could come up with for powering it from 7.2v with. It requires that your original power board have an inductor on the "top", and a single(not 2) TI chip on the bottom. Looking at a datasheet, it should be possible to run said power board off of 7.2v by directly inputting it into the chip. But I haven't seen another one like that, or had my hands on one, so its still speculative.

If you know where to look you can find gamecubes for around $15. Heck, you can get PS2 slims for $25.

You'll have to find your own way, and I don't think A pico PSU outputs 1.9v

When i get my variable powersupply built i will do voltage/amperage tests on a cube and work on finding out what the deal with the power requirements is! i can test each line for drop out voltages and what their draw is and i will make a chart or something after i do it!
Im doing this using an n64 ti regulator, another variable regulator from TI and some 7805s. will post pics/info after i get it finishedOh, I should mention: The reason why I highly suggest NOT doing the 7.4v route is that you have to find a way to power the 1.9v and the 3.43v lines by either linear regulators or some other way, which is the only real challenge. No one has successfully done THAT, the 5v part is easy.
