Capitals defenseman Mike Green makes NHL history.

He's got a goal in 8 straight games now, a feat never before accomplished by a defenseman. Figured with the all the Canadians on here there's sure to be a few hockey fans that may be interested.

During his 8-game streak, he scored 10 goals and 7 assists.

It really is amazing. Ray Borque, Bobby Orr, Paul Coffee... none of them ever did what Mike Green just did tonight, and he's only 23. Even though he is a defenseman, he is tied for the league lead in Power Play goals, he leads all defenseman in goals (22, next closest is 14), and points (50, next closest is 44), second among defenseman in +/-, oh and did I mention that he's missed 13 games this year?

seriously, how is it possible that he is so dominating in stats when he's missed 13 games?

Its pretty funny, though. The beginning of his historic goal-scoring streak was the first game back from the All-Star game he wasn't invited to.

edit: ooh, here's a fun stat. he's number 10 in the entire league in Goals per Game with .51 G/G. The next closest defenseman is Dan Boyle who is number 114 with .29 G/G

I'm a pretty big 'Nucks fan myself... It makes me sad that I don't get to watch the games while I'm in Australia... It's like ice hockey doesn't exist... The only games I get to see are on Foxtel, and there hasn't been ONE Vancouver game... The only games they play are from the Eastern Conference. Mostly Washington and Ottawa. Good thing both games where they've played each other that I've seen, Ottawa came out on top

I think you've come out and rooted for all the Canadian teams except the Flames. You got a problem with Calgary (just so happens to be where Mike Green is from)?
