should I keep my 1001?

Ever since I got my PSP 2001, I've been going back and forth between whether or not I should sell my 1001. So, this is my list of Pros and Cons to both, fill in anything I've missed and also give your opinion.

PSP 1001:
Pros:
longer battery life (at least it seems like its longer)
universal battery (works with all PSPs)
slightly more contoured to your hands
can run 1.5 firmware homebrew (still haven't looked into it, anything good I'm missing?)

Cons:
heavy
fat
god awful D-pad
easy to lose joystick nub
somewhat complicated to repair because of lots of unoptomized parts

PSP 2001:
Pros:
A/V out!
light
slim
AWESOME d-pad
almost impossible to lose joystick nub

Cons:
sort of flat in your hands, like a standard NES controller vs. a dogbone NES controller
isn't compatible with 1.5 firmware
shorter battery life
batteries only compatible with other slims




So, at the end of the day, the 1.5 firmware seems to be the only reason to own a 1001 over a 2001. Is there anything else I'm missing? Keep in mind, both of these have broken UMDs (bought them that way for that exact reason, custom firmware, duh). I was thinking of making the 1001 my "b!tch" PSP to bring around and keep my 2001 safe at home, but I hate the d-pad on the 1001 and most of what I play either requires the d-pad (emulators and PSX games) or I prefer to use the d-pad. I actually only use the joystick when playing Grand Theft Auto, and then only because I have to.

no crap? what did it entail? even still, the SNES d-pad sucks just as hard, now when a Genesis 6-button d-pad swap hits town, give me a ring, even though that's pretty much impossible considering how its attached to the controller.

You're all wrong; the Saturn's D-pad is the bomb. Like, I've never used a better D-pad in my life, for either model of controller.

Anyway, if you really want to know what I think, you should sell your 1001 to me for $5. But don't listen to me, do what you want to do.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is callisto and pspr. You can use the 1.0 version of pspr on a slim IIRC. Ill post some more when I get a chance.

I love my original gen PSP. I use it all the time. Didn't see a big reason to upgrade, even with the 3000 out. It does what I want it to do.

If you do decide to get rid of it, give a sibling a deal. Then you can play against each other wirelessly, exchange games, etc. Plus, they'll like you for a bit (can you tell I'm the oldest in my family?)

Just gave my youngest brother a custom paint-modded original xbox for his birthday. The time invested was the biggest expense, and now we can play each other on two TVs.

And the Saturn d-pad is good, but the absolute best, beats the Saturn pad by a mile, is the Sega Nomad dpad. That thing is no joke. Its a cruel twist of fate that the best dpad ever to come into existence ended up an a doomed hand held.

where is this fat battery cover? That sounds awesome! The only problem is it would make the system lopsided on the back

Really? Next time I'm at Game Force I'll have to confirm that myself. I mean, it should still be there; who wants a Nomad? (Well, aside from me.)

The phat can only support up to 32gb Cards ( theoretically speaking )

when the slim ( theoretically speaking ) can hold up to 64gb cards. ( if im wrong about the amount it can hold, just say and ill change it )

when the slim ( theoretically speaking ) can hold up to 64gb cards. ( if im wrong about the amount it can hold, just say and ill change it ) They both support the same amount, which last I checked, is a theoretical hardware limit of 128gb (I may be wrong, but I know they are both the same)

slim has less useless buttons and switches. Like the disc eject button? That is all I can think of...

slim has more ram But it cannot be used for games, there are no games that utilize it. The only things that require it are Skype and the Dreamcast emulator.
