MY SNESp ** IN DEVELOPMENT STAGE**

Just getting some more initiative to work on my SNESp idea. My original idea was to design a case that looked rather similar to the PSP (Sony) and have the cartridge slide in a door slot that would work like the UMD door on the back of a PSP. I've decided to put that idea on hold until I can surely get that designed the way I like it. So my new idea, which all credit goes to PalmerTech, is to fit a Mini SNES mobo into a PSone case, and make that into a portable. I'm working it out on paper atm and measuring out some of the inner workings to see if it is possible to fit it. Biggest issue that I can think of right now is fitting the controller buttons in and everything considering where the screen will be mounted (of course in the middle where the CD tray was). I'll have to start designing a cartridge slot for the back of the unit, and hopefully I can find some nice thin Li-polys to cram in it, hopefully the protection circuit is not too big either.

Parts that I currently have:
-Mini SNES mobo (still working on cartridge slot re-wiring)
-PSone screen or GC Zenith (I have both so, ehh any diff?)
-PSone case (Going to buy a second PSone so I don't lose my current case. I want a working one)
-Regulators (+5v 7805 and a +8v 7808)
-LEDs (6x 3mm white LEDs)
-3rd Party SNES controller (Original any better to work with?)

Parts I need:
-Li-Polys w/ protection circuit and safe charger
-Possibly a Original SNES controller
-Bondo or whats not (Got to read tutorials again)
....Not sure If i need much more than a few PCBs for controller pads and some tact switches

The controller mobo, are the 3rd party controllers harder to work with considering no chips?

Great part of the Zenith GC screen is it came with a nice setup pre-wired headphone jacks to the screen harness.

No speakers. I dont care for in-game music on handhelds. When I'm playing a handheld, I almost always have the volume off.

Actually I wanted to ask you something Palmer, what version is your PSone? Is that a NTSC version or PAL version?
And if its an NTSC, that is that an older or later model version. Looks like you have RGB slots there on the back, and a 3rd button hole??

Project has been put on hault until i can get me some more funding. Currently paying off a new laptop.

Anybody got any suggestions on Li-poly batteries from www.all-battery.com???

I need a minimum of 2x 3.6v and some really good mAH, like minimum of 2600.
I have to wire them in series so I can get the voltage up to about 7.5v (not sure if PSone screen running on 7.2v) so I won't be able to stack the mAH.

Oh yes and dimensions need to be a minimum of 7 x 5 (L x W)

Been constantly tinkering in my brain of the capabilities of portablizing other consoles.

Sadly funds are small, little to no workspace for soldering. Still have to re-solder the catridge slot!!!! /sigh
Still questioning what types of batteries would work with this plan......

I'd almost freaked when i looked over me SNES mobo because i thought i soldered the capacitors back on incorrectly, but luckily Ben Heck's book has reference to their numbers, placement, and so on....

They carry old gen and new gen consoles and games, plus movies.
Bought me an originally boxed new SNES controller for the project.
And a few other things like a Sega Genesis mark 1, Sonic 1,2,3, Spinball
