hey bacteria, whats the deal with the ebay page. going to be relisted? where exactly do you go to buy one? its so confusing. would one ask on benheck forums, or "modded-by-bacteria.com" forums, or email you?
if i were you, i would have a STORE in your webpage. you know, "Add to cart" and "checkout" buttons. most people would Rather be redirected to a website, and not deal with ebay.
OR, if you want the convenience of auction style listing Without the huge Fees, try "IOFFER" at http://www.ioffer.com. its #2 basically.
EBAY is Not a good judge of public interest. there are just too many ebay items everywhere, too much ebay junk items, and 7 days is not long enough to catch something.
also, remember the auction is on "Ebay UK", and in GBP currency. so Americans might not see it in "Ebay USA". or they might be waiting until the USD/GBP exchange rate goes down a bit.

You can just PM Bacteria and send him money through PayPal. He's not a scammer.

I forgot to remove the link on my site to the e-bay listing which ended after its 30 days.superspudz2000 wrote:hey bacteria, whats the deal with the ebay page. going to be relisted? where exactly do you go to buy one? its so confusing. would one ask on benheck forums, or "modded-by-bacteria.com" forums, or email you?

I prefer people to contact me directly rather than via e-bay, plus I can offer the kits cheaper too if people pay me directly in UK Pound Sterling as I not only don't have to pay PayPal for currency conversion but also not pay e-bay for listing and final listing price fees. That is why I was selling via e-bay at £50 instead of £42 direct from me - that is about the difference in the fees I mentioned! I also made it £42 to give a discount to BenHeck members; decided however to keep one price for all anyway.
PM me if you are interested in a case; I have updated my site to say "contact me with requirements", it isn't worth me setting up a shopping section.

I will if it fits, however I haven't opened up a GC yet - I have 3 or 4 of them, all ready, but I have other projects to do first. Rest assured though I will do a GC portable; and if it can be made to fit in my case, it will!

Re: Bacteria's project - portable PSone - IntoPlay
Good reason to post back in this thread - I took my system to work last night (night shift), played it solid for about 1.75 hours then a bit here and there for about another hour on top. Previously I have only played the system for up to about half an hour max. This was using it in earnest!
I spent about 70% of my time on Blasto! - it is actually a really good game, frustrating in places though.
System worked perfectly great, batteries still worked fine, probably had about 30-40 mins left on their charge.
System feels nice to hold, although using 4 cells instead of 6 would have tipped the balance on weight.
Decided that the position of the D-pad is ideal as are the 4 button pad; however, the joysticks would be far better where the speakers are and the speakers where the joysticks are. The screen can then be placed slightly higher and more central, which means less to chop off the screen board also.
Need the analogue controller button (forgot it before), as joysticks don't work on many games without the button - the game I tested did, but most don't!
The shoulder buttons should be on the case base, on the curved sides at the top, towards the back.
The whole console is 58mm including the CD protective cover; the ideal thickness for optimum hold is about 55mm.
I'm going to remake this system anyway with the above improvements, after making a couple of other systems first. I like the PSone screen with no anti-glare sheet on, so will adopt that in my systems too now.
After making the TurboGrafx system, I will make an N64 as mentioned before. On the case front, speakers at top, joystick (larger one from SuperPad) in middle on left, d-pad on bottom on left; A and B on middle right and the C buttons on bottom right.

EDIT - also, the viabration motors from the pager/mobile phones I bought work fine, I get some rumble, enough, and they make a fair bit of noise so work fine!

I think it would be cool if you just moved the right joystick down and not the left because then it would be comfortable and fell like an xbox 360. Other wise that looks great and I can't wait to see your new and improved version.

Re: Bacteria's project - portable PSone - IntoPlay
I think it is going to be a situation that the position on the left middle is for the main control, so on the N64 and PSone that is where the joystick will go and the d-pad on the left bottom; the middle right for the 4 button pad for the PSone and A & B for the N64; bottom right for PSone the right joystick and on the N64 the C buttons. It is logical that way. I will also recess the joysticks a little too and use the original joystick surrounds from whatever controller I use too - much more space on the bottom left and right for a joystick.
Playing the PSone with just a d-pad is ok but far better with an analogue joystick for sure. Been playing Medieval, Shanghai and more Blasto! tonight.
Three other observations to share:
1) the plastic vacuum formed case feels solid, I can easily hold the system with one hand on the side (eg when reaching for the start button). Nice. System gets slightly warm after a couple of hours use solid, fair enough, but as I say, only slightly warm - no heat vents or cooling needed though.
2) playing Medieval, noticed the game seems to struggle when pressing the d-pad down as double press, to make character run; almost as if the PSone was working at its maximum; noticed that yesterday with a Bomberman racing game too. If only they made the CD spin a little faster I am sure that wouldn't have been relevant!
3) the d-pad cross was sprayed with spray paint and then spray varnish. My fingers have moved along them probably thousands of times now, there is no sign of the paint coming off. Nice.
BTW, only sold a few of my case kits so far (I anticipate more will go when I do the N64 system): had a nice surprise today, two guys from the USA bought one each; hopefully they might start a build thread at some point (the other two that started dried up, I guess they found it too difficult). It would be nice to have a couple of people finishing their projects with my cases, so I can see how theirs look!

BTW - either today or tomorrow (certainly by Friday latest) I will have my PSone guide up on my Wordpress site. I am also at a stage where I can also do a TurboGrafx one too, even though I have a fair way to go to finish the project, as my project time is being spent at the moment getting the site up fully, and improved. It is looking and functioning just how I want it to; really like my Wordpress site - hope you guys do too!

Re: Bacteria's project - portable PSone - IntoPlay
Okay, time for some responses
First, it may be okay for the PS1 system, but when you build the N64 version you'll need to put more vents in. A fan is useful too. In my experience the RAM is the part that gets the hottest, but I've never played Perfect Dark 4 player for 5 hours.
Secondly, are you going to have a worklog for the N64 one? Are you going to integrate it with a guide. I might consider buying one (but probably not, I'm too cheap/poor). Interestingly, I was going to buy an IntoPlay case only and build an N64 in it a while back, but never did. And now I've fried my poor spare N64, and I have no f***ing idea where to get another one for less than $50. It's already May and I haven't seen a single garage sale. The thrift store is a joke, they never have anything and if they do they charge way too much. They were charging $16 for a BROKEN game gear once. I think I saw an N64 with no controller for $50 once. The pawn shop sells games cheap but systems expensive.
But enough of my blogging. Nice project bac!

Don't worry, will have a small fan in the system to keep the N64 cool!
Yes, I will have a worklog on this site and integrate it afterwards onto my Wordpress site.
By the time I finish it, you might have found a nice cheap N64 board (perhaps ask people here, might be able to help get one for you)?

People here often sell bare boards for about $10. Also, open your phone book and look for used videogame stores, I was surprised at the number of them in my area. I got an N64, original boxed N64 controller, expansion pack, and all cables for only $30, and Starfox for $5.XCVG wrote:no consoles are cheap where i live lol

N64 doesn't really need that many vents, or a fan...just one vent in the back that looks stylish should suffice, I can play LoZ:MM for 5 hours striaght and not have any heat problems...
