I love VCRs. (Among other things..)

That's 43 tact switches.
Easily one of my best scores out of old/free electronics.

Got this thing a week ago out of a trash can.

Was that a number pad originally or something? I can't imagine why you'd need so many buttons clustered together like that otherwise.

Anyways, sweet score. I'll have to dismantle one of my broken VCRs sometime.

Was that a top loader? It's just they are the only ones I have ever seen with that many buttons.

Nope.

It had slots for two tapes.
You couldn't dub between them or anything, but you could set individual times for each (from what I could tell).
Kinda... Neat...

Sounded pretty cool! (Completely obsolete now but still cool)

So was it a number pad of some kind, then? It looks like it based on how the tact switches are layed out.

Tacts are useful, that's quite a bit. I like the jacks on VCRs too. DVD players have more though. I'm into robotics, electronics, and that sort of thing, so I salvage what I can.

If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.

Yes, there was a number pad, along with numerous other misc. odd buttons.

Hundreds of tact switches?

Am I the only one who would be haunted by such a thing? They would be like "Uuuuuuuse meeeeee"

:P

I have a lot of stuff really...
I do a lot of modding and electronics work, most of it hobby, but some stuff I do for a bit of cash.
(I've done over 30 Rapid Fire controllers. One of which was PS2...)

Plus, I salvage stuff like madness.
Any time anything breaks, step 1 is to see if the warranty is still good...
And if I'm lucky, it's not :D
Of course, in which case, I try and fix it...
No luck? Rip it apart!

I rarely pay for parts actually :P
