I come here to talk about something pretty big in my life, and some of you just mock me. I dont appreciate this, seriously.

Also, from what I know (and this is true. Thanks to me personally talking to someone whos in the business and to my family lawyer.): When an artist first signs up for a multi album deal, they dont make cash. They only make royalties ONCE all the expenses are recouped. Only after they are recouped, can a artist make royalty cash. (And this is unfortunately, by law.)

Now, theres a small loophole. If I was to have a live presentation, I'd make most profit off of that, and the percentage that goes to the label is part of the recoup.

Also I forgot to mention.

This record label is an affiliate to: Sony/Amazon Records.

And don't take this homebrew advice, if you can sell out to a company DO IT. Remember the root word of sellout is SELL.

One thing I would mention with publishing is don't expect much past whatever they offer for the down payment. Still, good experience!

Also doing it "for reals" gives you bragging rights. The other day my dentist corrected me for ending a sentence with a preposition, so I said "How many books have YOU written?" (in garbled mouth-fulla-crap voice)

My band hasnt got a label, although we've been talking to a few indie labels, we just do it all ourselves, but its like trying to run through treacle. We've got a 7 track EP being sorted out but recordings aren't not the problem. Anyone with a computer and mic can record an album, but thats not good unless you've got the gigs to back it up. Thats where having a manager/label comes in so much use, its all about who you know, if someone good recommends you, you're more likely to get a gig than just sending off demo after demo to venues. Most of them will never even listen to it, sucks, but hey thats life


tl;dr - trying to sort out a tour on your own = very very hard
