any potential in subbing flash card for cartridge?

I know that retrozone sells an NES cart with a CF adapter in it that lets you boot NES roms through the cartridge slot, and I was wondering if anyone has ever done something similar with an NOAC. Ideally, The NOAC would be able to read game roms directly from a flash card. I don't imagine that it would be so simple, but I'd love to hear any input from one who's more in the know about such concepts.

Short answer: yes, I have looked into it. It's hard and really expensive to implement. Not to be mean, but this question gets asked and answered about once a month here. If you only want a few special games, look at the NESDev forums (google it) and they should be able to help you make a one-off, single game custom cartridge. I have made some of these, and it's easier than you might think, though you often need some special equipment, like EPROM burners and such. Otherwise the CF card cartridge, or an emulator, is the way to go. Right now it's actually cheaper to buy, mod, and load a PSP with ROMS than to try and build a NOAC flash adapter, and probably about as legal (or illegal, as the case may be) as building a NOAC flash loader.

If you are interested in doing some custom carts (EPROM, single game, no flash/multigame), getting started is actually pretty easy. I was thinking of making some kind of a tutorial for some of the simpler mappers, and for wiring Japanese carts into US ones for play on a US NES.
