Simple Rapid-Fire mod for mouse?
After seeing http://www.instructables.com/id/SDYZ7VWFJNELQ0I/ - such a simple way to add a rapid fire button to an xbox 360 controller, I was wondering if the same such thing can be done on mice for playing PC games. I'm no circuit board reader, but my guess is the two points are the R button pinup and the ground. My question is, can the same thing be done with a mouse?

Yup. I saw one for sale a few weeks ago.
Basically rig up a 555 timer to the mouse button's connections, and add another button for rapid fire, and you're done.

Hey, sup?

Google search came up with this:
http://www.google.com/search?q=rapid+f ... =firefox-a
The first one is a software mod that allows it. I don't know about hardware though.
PS: I was looking at that same instructable today.

Thanks, but my only question is what the heck is a 555 timer and where can I get one?

A 555 timer basically makes pulses of power, like pressing a button really quickly over and over again. You can vary its spoeed depending on how much power you give it.
You can get one at Radio Shack for under 2 bucks.
Here's a walkthrough to do exactly what you want:

Things a lot guys. I assume the capacitor, resistors, port, and switches can be bought at radio shack to? I only have one last question.

I'm not stupid, so I can read a schematic. I assume the squiggly lines are resistors, and the thing that has 47uF by it is the capacitor, and S1 is the switch. I think the red box is the 555 timer. If so, what do you do with the 8 pin IC socket?
oh, and would this be the socket?

Solder the parts to the socket, then put the chip in it. ICs can be more sensitive to heat than capacitors and resistors, so it's better to have the socket. (Also, you can easily replace it if it burns out.)
Radio Shack carries all the other parts you need.
