High resolution tiny tiny LCD screen? (1 to 2")

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

A lot of the eyeglass virtual goggles for sale now have small 640x480 screens.

What's your lens setup to get the screens so close to the eyes? I'd find it very useful.

Hmm...really?

The lenses out of a real (Read: Broken) digital camera do not work well at all. It's still got to be a few inches away. Same goes for dollar store binocular lenses.

Viewfinder on old Video Recorders. The ones that write to cassettes. They have small (like less then an inch) CRT monitors for the viewfinder. They have there own built in inverter most of the time and run off of composite video.

What platform are you intending to drive these from? What update speed do you need?

I made a post about this in Forum 42 a few months back as I had a similar need and requirement link

Project on hold. Will look a bit different as mine doesn't need a prism but otherwise similar. Mine will also be wired as it makes the project very cheap. Thought I might rig it up to a GP2x with TV out, for playing games and video.

Will get around to completing my version in next months!

I also thought, by using the goggles we use when doing dremelling work to house a CCD, there is enough space to house the electronics too, and just black out the outside frame of the goggle itself; thereby making it look better; clear view on the other goggle of course! The board for the screen on the ones I have is far smaller than his; mine is about 3cms x 3cms or so, so will be more discreet.

Will be a nice little project when I do it.
