2G iPod Touch, not jailbroken, but running cracked apps!

Now, first off, I am not an advocate of cracked apps.

That said, here is the deal: I had an ipod touch 2g, got a bunch of free apps from the app store, and a few paid ones. Then, I traded it for a 1g, and restored using my 2g backup. Then, I downloaded a few cracked apps to try them out. Then, I traded my 1g back to a friends 2g.

After my sync, I have all his old paid apps, all my free apps/paid apps, AND my only cracked app I did not delete, Brothers in Arms. His paid apps do not sync to my library, but my cracked app does, as do all my free ones. I just checked, and the app store on both the ipod and the PC is registered to my account.

Any idea what is going on? I can provide screenshots, and I am going to try and duplicate this if I can get my 1g on loan. Obviously, the 2g is not jailbroken yet, so NO WAY should this be happening.

I know that this is a semi-old thread, with no replies for 10 days, but I wanted to know if you've made any progress?

If you have, it may be worth reporting to some iTouch dev team or something, whoever it is that's trying to get the iPod Touch 2G jailbroken.

If you've replicated this trick, and/or can provide details, surely you should send them an email about this discovery.

I made a backup, restored the ipod to factory state, then synced it to the backup. Same result!

I did make a report to the dev team, they say that they know what the bug is, but it is not exploitable for a jailbreak. Apparently, they COULD make a tool to get cracked games with a valid itunes ID running, but they hate piracy, so no dice there.

Besides, redsn0w was just released! (Well, the manual version). It has its fair share of problems, but with the 2g almost completely jailbroken, this small bug is almost useless. Apparently it is a bug in the license transfer mechanism in iTunes, really a bummer this was not figured out sooner.

All in all, a neat bug, but not really useful unless your only aim is piracy.

I could try and replicate it with a tutorial, but honestly, just jailbreak. No reason not to.
