That pretty much looks like the insides of my DVD player, exactly alike. Except mine is made by TDE. I tried tinkering around with it, pulling out a series of cables to the LCD because it looked like the chips to run the LCD alone where mounted in the top unit next to the LCD. First I was trying to see if I could cut audio, then video, but no avail. I think a large percentage of these DVD players are digital and would require a lot of serious know how to mod an input. Not to mention the one with an input could still technically be digital because it would convert the input. I don't know, probably a lot of chips and circuits on the main board that run the screen, and having that much guts to add to your portable would be impractical.

I'm no expert either, but I really don't think this is possible.

It's possible. You have to create a system that accepts analog video signals and outputs a digital signal that your screen can accept. That requires fourth-year electrical engineering knowledge though.
