Li-Po charging same as Li-ion?

Post by jjhammerstein »

I was trying to find charging apparatuses for my Li-Po batteries, but to no avail. So, I took a gander over on Wikipedia, and it told me that they were basically the same thing as Li-ions. The need protection circuitry so they don't asplode, and they vary in Voltage from 3V-4.2V on a charge.

Basically, can use Li-ion technology to charge my Li-Po stuff?

About 99% of the time yes. But what do you mean you couldn't find charging apparatus?

I only looked on Batteryspace so far, but I can Google around.

Can someone give me a list of the parts I need? I feel like I could do it myself, but I don't want to blow up of I make a mistake.

I've got two 7.4V 4000mAh Li-Po batteries that are two cells each.
Here they are now.

I need circuits and charger, and I feel incompetent. Help?

BAM $10 shipped! :D

As for protection boards, I am pretty sure any of the ones in the two cell section of the batteryspace PCB section will work; Let me know which one you get, I need one as well.

BAM!

I really think the Li-ion circuits will work, since they put the same limits on the voltages.

If you are using them in 7.4v pairs then this one is what you need :

http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?P ... rodID=3954

You need one per 7.4v pair.

And here is the charger per 7.4v set :
