Yes it does count as spam. Seriously. For a while this seemed to be ontopic. There were good ideas beign tossed around. And we were making progress as to bringing the rules up to date. Posting a can of spam and asking if it is isn't clever. Please stop. This is the off topic forum. but not THAT off topic.

Maybe we need to revamp the definition of off topic.

Off Topic = Where subjects not pertaining to portablization are to be discussed. This does not mean anything goes. Each post in here has a topic. Please stay on that topic unless the conversation gradually shifts to another topic.

Link89, I think you had some problems with some moderaters, too?

Anyways, I am happy my thread sparked some interest in up-dating the forum rules. Ususally on every forum I join, I ususally make a really good topic, which gets stickied. I havn't got that here, yet.

you get the idea. Doesn't cover everything, but it gets the more annoying ones :D
Very nice! :D Ill take to Ben about it if you want... Or you can, dosnt matter.
I just sent him a PM. I was sure to make it seem like the idea was liked and all. I even offered to do it myself, if he'd trust me to be an admin for a bit.

Could always do that with a Word macro using "search and replace".

If you changed i to I, it would look something like this:

I lIke the Icecream at IcIcles.

HTML doesn't let multiple spaces, so lets see what would happen (I will comment it), but it will work with 1 space before and after "i".

(put three spaces>) I (<put three spaces)

As you can see, it did not work, it would look like so:

Code: Select all

(put three spaces>) I (<put three spaces)

It has nothing to do with multiple spaces. Its converting " i " with a single space on each side, to " I ".
Presumably, there would bea word preceding and succeeding the " i ".

And while I think a conversion script is a good idea, as a backup, I still think we should push the proper spelling and grammar.

What about Roman Numerals?

If someone messed up, like they did i. instead of I. , what would they do?

Self edit.

hmmm, maybe not i = I, u = you, etc. I thought that if you had extra letters, it wouldn't go through the filter. Never mind, then.

You can set the filter to change any word containing the phrase to be changed, or just the phrase to be changed.
So i would be I, but i'm wouldn't be I'm.

I dont want to get into moderator stuff because i have some ideas a poeple would disagree with but i would just like have the rules posted. this isnt spam. spam is junk that is pointless or unecessary. I talked to one of the moderators a while ago about this and he said no so it's fair that it be posted here on the furoms for the people.

The rules are clearly posted already. It just seems that people either disregard them or don't read them.

I know. But a lot of people dont read them and we get a lot of spam posts. Thats why the rules should probably be posted in sticky.
