I'd say Lincoln is more the luxury version. Mercury falls in between the two. Kind of like what Chrysler did with their cars: they had their basic, cheap version (Dodge), the not-as-cheap but more luxurious Plymouth, and then the high-end Chrysler version.grossaffe wrote:Mercuries are the luxury version of Ford cars.Jongamer wrote:You do realize they still make Mercury cars?

Its not like Sony makes too many in-house games. If they didn't buy the rights to those games, they'd migrate over to the 360.Twilight Wolf wrote:I'm a huge Sega fan, but saying it was Sony that did them in is just not true. Sega killed themselves slowly. Personally, I'd hate it if Sony went under. The PS3 was my gaming savior this generation, and if that went away, I'd be stuck with either the Wii (which I have and can't stand for a number of reasons) or the Xbox 360 (probably an awesome system, but it doesn't really have any games that appeal to me).

Lincolns are luxury vehicles, but they aren't luxury versions of Ford vehicles. My Sable is the luxury equivalent of a Taurus. A Mystique is the luxury equivalent of the Contour. A Mountaineer is the luxury equivalent of the Explorer.Twilight Wolf wrote:I'd say Lincoln is more the luxury version. Mercury falls in between the two. Ford is regular, Mercury is entry-level luxury, Lincoln is luxury. Lincolns seem to usually have less body styling in common with the Ford vehicle than the Mercury (Mercury looks more like Ford counterpart). Most of the mechanical parts are shared between the three brands, and I think the Town Car is the only current Lincoln vehicle without a Ford version.grossaffe wrote:Lincolns are luxury vehicles, but they aren't luxury versions of Ford vehicles. Get with the times, man! According to Wikipedia, they were discontinued in 2002.grossaffe wrote:what about the continental? did they stop making those?
Only reason I care about the big three is the jobs they provide. There aren't really any new cars that interest me, I could buy an old car and keep fixing it up for years before it would equal the price of a new car. Except the Aptera, that thing looks pretty sweet (just for a commuter, though).
ah, I see. I'm not a big "new car" person. I find that used cars are a much better value. my 1999 sable has been running strong since I bought it. Broke the 100,000 mile marker and still running smooth. No Check Engine light or anything else significantly wrong with it.vskid wrote:Get with the times, man! No, Lincolns are just fancier Fords. Just take any old Ford, add some leather seats. additional soundproofing, and printed faux wood trim and BAM you have yourself a Lincoln.
Ford Fusion -> Mercury Milan -> Lincoln MKZ
Ford Crown Victoria -> Mercury Marquis -> Lincoln Town Car
Ford F-150 -> (no Mercury version) -> Lincoln Mark LT
Ford Edge -> (No Mercury) -> Lincoln MKX
Ford Expedition -> (No Mercury) -> Lincoln Navigator
GM does the same thing with Chevy and Buick, but Cadillac has a separate line of vehicle platforms. (Mainly because they're too proud to make an "entry level" Caddy.)

Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, and Subaru (among other manufacturers) all have plants in the US, where most of this market's cars come from. They're all non-union, too. (I suppose they all learned from GM's mistakes.)vskid wrote:Only reason I care about the big three is the jobs they provide.

HP
They make awesome computers, but they've been laying off a ton of people lately, including three of my friends.
(Everybody is laying off, i just really don't want them to go under)
I live right next to the plant, with an AMD and Intel building (go figure) right next to it.
If any of these computer went under, Ft. Collins would be back to dirt roads and poverty. Sad, but true.
