Terminology aside, I don't think there's anything wrong with an irrational hatred of Japanese / foreign cars. In fact, if anything, there's not ENOUGH of it...

Think about it. 50 years ago, even 30 years ago, you can imagine some pipe-smoking guy sitting on his porch saying he'd never buy a foreign car, for whatever reason. OK maybe he's naive, racist, etc, but GM and Ford weren't on the brink of failure back then either.

China is another good example. 20 years ago NOTHING came from China. It was all Japan, Philippines, etc. And it was GOOD, I like telling everyone about my 23 year old screwdrivers from Japan that I still use everyday.

Then in the 90's we had the one-two punch of Clinton giving China most-favored-nation status (nonwithstanding how many students they drove tanks over) and Wal-Mart selling the crap to bargain-hungry Americans. Now BAM, everything is made in China, and most of it sucks.

Of course, we need to buy crap from China since they are the country that loans us the most money now. So the government can print checks. That people use to buy crap from China. Wash, rinse, fail.

I like Miller Beer. Sometimes beer snobs give me crap for drinking it, ok maybe it's not the best, but it's made in my state and gives people near me jobs. So screw foreign beer!

Gigabyte (Best Motherboards EVER!)

Western Digital & Seagate (Best Hard Drives EVER!)

AMD & Intel (I couldn't imagine what the computer industry would be like without these two companies.)

yeah but the way it is now its the US DOMESTIC CARS that are the equavalent of cheap chinese SH!T. there is no soul left in domestic cars and personally i would NOT buy any car made since about 1998 at the absolute latest because the build quality (of american cars especially) is so overwhelmingly mediocre its just not worth the tens of thousands of dollars they charge

i drive a 1990 VOLVO and im damn proud of it, my other car is a REAL american car a 1954 oldsmobile and i wouldnt have it any other way. not some peice of crap "MADE IN THE USA from parts sourced from china etc" modern USDM car

like i said if tens of thousands of americans jobs didnt depend on the big 3 i wouldnt care if they died. they have been dead to me for a long time anyway

I think all this brand redundancy is stupid, especially when the automakers are strapped for cash.

Ford can discontinue Mercury, since they're just carbon copies of Ford branded cars. Lincoln has more differences.

GM could easily dump most of their product line. Just keep Chevrolet for the masses and Cadillac as the 'premium' marque. Everything else can go, since most of them are just Chevys anyway. They're already discontinuing Hummer (Compensationmobile) and Saturn (just rebranded Opels since 2002).

Chrysler's just treading water until somebody throws them a life preserver. Looks like Fiat has done so, with no money transferred, so they can get back into the US market.

Why is it going to take 4 years for them to bring their own fuel efficient European cars over here? They're already making them, and it can't take that long to move the steering wheel to the other side. They went from building cars to building tanks really quickly back in the early 40s! I bet it's the union contracts. I won't get into it here, but I absolutely hate unions.

They need to come up with a new K car. Another small car people can afford that gets over 35 MPG. They could even squeeze more mileage out of their existing cars by changing the gearing.

take the GEO metro, add modern safety equipment and tune it for milage. the ironic thing about ford is EVERYWHERE BUT THE USA gets the good versions of all the cars! the euro focus is a cool car, the USDM focus is a peice of crap and you CANT IMPORT the euro version even tho they sell them in mexico Image

i said " i havent seen a new plymouth or merc since the 90s and they were basically rebadges of other cars at that point ." so i was off by a decade, whatever lol. plymouth production stopped in 2001, so did oldsmobile. mercury is basically rebadged fords and Lincoln are just fancier rebadged fords

Lets see.

Mouser.com - I buy from them all the time. Located in North Texas so I get my order in 1 day. They did just botch my order though and overdrafted my check card but besides that I love them.

ACE Hardware - What can I say? Hardware selection is unparellel to other stores.

AMD - Much cheaper CPUs at almost the same performance as Intel? Plus they have an office here in Austin.

Markwest Energy - My father's company. Not in the tank cause they are small so he has no worries.

Target - Much better then Wallmart. I actually WANT Wallmart to go under.

HEB - Favorite Grocery store ever.

Shiner Brewery - Makes my favorite beer. Just had there 100th Anniversary.

Budwieser - My favorite Beer on a budget.

Ford, GM, Chrysler, ect - Sure they need to get rid of allot of cars and stream line there product lines but I will kill myself before I have to work on a Jap car. My roommates WRX is the most pain in the ass car ever to work on. Who came up with the idea that you have to disassemble half the frickin engine to replace spark plugs? Ford actually still makes really good cars. Jeep is still doing really good despite gas prices. I really hope Unions bite the big one in this economic slump.

Hmm... not a fan at all of American Beer or Cars, Japanese Cars are awesome.

I dunno any companies that I use often enough to be annoyed if they got affected, any that will go out any time soon. Still, Woolworths & Zavvi disappeared so i'm not sure if anyone is that safe really.

I guess you never held a wrench in your hand before? Seriously Japanese must have 4 elbows to work on those cars.

Interesting how the "performance" AMD's often cost more than a good E8400 yet seem to do a lot worse in anything that isn't a benchmark, like real usage.

That, and they are power-hungry voltage whores that put out way too much heat for the amount they don't get done.

If Arizona iced tea stops being 99 cents there will be a mini rampage.

Intel whore.

My lowly Phenom 8450 Triple core pi**es all over every Core 2 Duo I have ever used.

You are just splurging a bunch of bull****.

Lower power usage, who gives a screw, a High Wattage Power supply doesn't cost that friggin' much.

So what if it takes twice the power as your precious E8400, My Phenom X3 8450, which cost $70 less, will run friggin' circles around it, and I am not just talking about in benchmarks.

Too much heat, complete BS, use a different damn heatsink if you are not satisfied with the stock one. My 65nm Phenom 8450 OCed to 2.52GHz can barely touch 60c under 100% load for 20min, and this is with a Stock Heatsink and fan, and it doesn't even have heatpipes on it.

Though I will say Intel did a fine job with the i7, though they could have picked a name that didn't only appeal to Computer Geeks.

the new 45nm core phenom IIs are amazing. ive heard of people overclocking the 2.8ghz phenom II 920 to 3.4ghz on the stock cooler, it runs cooler than the old phenoms, performs better and its cheap (195$ for the 920) and for that price you get performance that approachest the i7 line of processors and is a hell of a lot cheaper, newegg prices are as follows

Phenom II 940 3.0ghz black ed: $235.00
core i7 nehalem 940 2.93ghz: $564.99
Phenom II 920 2.8ghz: $195.00
core i7 920 2.66ghz: $294.99
C2Q Q9550 2.83ghz: $281.99

I think Sega screwed themselves over more than anything else. The PS2 was just the final nail in the coffin. Think about it: They released two failed add-ons for the Genesis, the Saturn failed for multiple reasons (I could go over these, but it'd take too long), the Dreamcast was released at an awkward time with little third-party support... And there's more.

I'm a huge Sega fan, but saying it was Sony that did them in is just not true. Sega killed themselves slowly. Personally, I'd hate it if Sony went under. The PS3 was my gaming savior this generation, and if that went away, I'd be stuck with either the Wii (which I have and can't stand for a number of reasons) or the Xbox 360 (probably an awesome system, but it doesn't really have any games that appeal to me).
