So I got a new PC today

I've got an Intel E5200 (basically a 2.5Ghz 45nm Core 2 Duo with half the cache and half the cost

), and I'll never get above 55c, even with 100% CPU usage for two weeks solid.

Idles at around 30c.

Not a Core 2, yours is a Pentium D. Which is pretty much a Dual core P4.

Core 2 is a different Architecture, and more powerful than a Pentium D.

Not a Core 2, yours is a Pentium D. Which is pretty much a Dual core P4.

Um, no. The "Pentium Dual-core" E5200 has a Wolfdale core, the same one that is in the E8x00 and E7x00 series Core 2 Duos.

eh whatever. I always thought Pentium Ds were just Dual Core Pentium 4s. Hence the Pentium D name.

"Pentium D" and "Pentium Dual-Core" are two different things. Pentium D was indeed basically a dual-core Pentium 4. "Pentium Dual-Core" is Intel's brand for their watered-down Core 2 Duos. They have always been based on the Conroe (and now Wolfdale) cores.

Ahh ok, that cleared up allot.

I thought Pentium D, and Pentium Dual-Core were the same.
