How can I mount buttons?

Currently making an N64p (slowly)

Anyway I got the official buttons on the tact switches so how can I mount the tact switch so the button has enough slack but doesn't fall out of the case when turned over?

I understand the pin things at the bottom of the button keep it from spinning or falling out.

What I mean is that right side up the buttons will sit there, and turned over the buttons will come out another few cm then be held in by the pins.

Basically I want to know what you guys have done to mount buttons inside a case.

Add a "spacer" on it?

or... Just move the entire thing closer to the case until there is no gap. The tact switches should all be mounted on some kind of pcb type material right?

I guess I see the problem... the buttons stick out comically far?

Oh well do what the guy above me said then. Cut the front plate of a controller out and bondo it to your case. voila.
