*Yes, fifth year. Didn't you know that all four year science degrees actually take five years? I wish I had known that when I started...
That depends on the school it would seem. A few that I've looked into basically say you will spend five years there regardless, others it's a toss up, and I know of one that basically insists that you will graduate in four.

Hey dont be knocking the Social Sciences

It may be less work in lectures, but its lot outside. Also bullet points on a powerpoint dont really give you the depth of a whole lecture so you still have to turn up if you want to learn anything. Its a lot of reading, for just one small 1000 word essay you're expected to read at least 6 or 7 different journal articles or books. The reading itself isnt that time cosuming, its the finding of them, to find those 6 or 7 decent sources you're likely to have read the same over in things that wernt actually useful to you. Sure its not physics (which is undeniably harder, you have my respect for that  ) but its not a walk in the park either

I thought about doing Physics at uni for a while, then i did A Level Physics at college (different thing in the UK) and that made me realise i dont think im gonna make a physicist and time soon

arts fun you get to go crazy on making things, and Find people to buy it on your own most of the time. usually that means building a relationship and portfolio. Best way to connect with people. Find good people who honestly host a good party. There are so many different ways to get people to gather, but it is important. The better the art the more people will remember it so allot of time starving. If you have the bones for it arts great too. School is studio time and a good scope to check out. depending on the school. Practice is important. I've been in such a slump with all my legal noise these days, but normaly I would wake up write and draw my dreams for crap and giggles. then every free minute draw on scraps of what ever. Plus stuff hits you at work or on the bus. Always draw write make a habbit of it.

I hear ya. I should really get to work too. :P No seriously, my whole day is pretty much wasted. I went the the source and bought a Canon printer/scanner/photocopier for $30, then was dragged along shopping. Then I came home, built and installed an antenna permanently on/in my cell phone, and am now slacking off until probably after dinner.
Hey, sup?

I've gotten into Drexel, WPI, and Suny Binghamton, and still need to hear back from stevens and University of delaware. Right now I'm kinda leaning towards WPI, with stevens and drexel consisting a slight second behind it.
Also, I have had a great experience with college apps. Everything was on common App, I got into everything (So far) I got my recomendations and generally didnt have a huge problems. Some people I know worked every weekend on their apps, cause they had four billion supplements, and 20 apps to fill out.

Congrats, Skyone!

Heh, I remember looking at the college enrollment process from the other side about a year ago. Once you step foot on campus with suitcase in tow you'll see that it's worth it. (this, of course is under the assumption you like the college you're attending :D ) Personally, I prefer the structure of a Liberal Arts program. This may have something to do with my crazy desire to be a Philosophy major. I could ramble on about college, but I figure I could just answer any questions anybody has about it.

While on some level I can understand Jongamer to a degree, you should just suck it up and follow the college's processes. If you don't like the way an institution runs itself, don't attend. You're bound to find a college that fits you, if you don't be so negative about it.
Materials Assignment Questions:

- At a certain temperature a hypothetical metal transforms from FCC to BCC. Calculate the change in density (in %).

Express your answer to 2 decimal places. Use - to denote a decrease.

Use decimal notation, digits after decimal: 2

- Consider a metal with an FCC crystal structure. The interplanar spacing is known to be 0.169 nm. If the first-order angle of diffraction (2*theta) is found to be 40.7° for the (311) set of planes in this metal, what wavelength of monochromatic x-radiation (in nm) must have been used for the diffraction?

Use decimal notation, digits after decimal: 3
You're a Mechanical Engineer I take it? Sounds like Mechanics of Materials to me (ME 351 at my uni), the class that "is standardized across all engineering schools in the entire universe" (according to my professor, anyways).

Engineering is definitely harder than High School, especially when you realize half way through Calc I that you've covered everything you learned your entire year of Senior Calc, and you're learning even more.....

I've found that picking up a fun minor helps with stress relief, I'm a ME major and Technical Theatre minor, and while I'm working in the theatre 9+ hours a week, I'm having a blast and getting over my brain being fried so that I can actually do engineering work.
