NOAC problems

I recently got my hands on a maxx play and immediately ripped it apart. To temporarily power the unit, I soldered the leads to a power supply that I use for testing things, right now it is getting 5V DC. The problem I am having though is I cannot get a good video signal off of it. I can get it to boot, but it gives me a red/pink/green screen and occasionally a distorted maxx play start screen. I also noticed the IC blobs were getting extremely hot and almost burnt my fingers trying to hold the board! What do you think is the source of the problem?

EDIT: I seem to have blown a fuse on the board, I don't think this was the original problem but I will keep you posted

You might be running too much current though it (too many amps). NOACs don't need too much juice to run. That could be why it's getting so hot and distorts.
