Z button question...

Post by NR1224 »

This is a potentially dumb question, but if you don't ask, you don't learn, right?

Ok, here it is...double z triggers
Possible? In my head i simply imagine soldering two buttons to the z button leads, but since I am aware of how little I know, i need to ask for a little advice. Possible, not possible or a stupid idea?

While I'm not sure why you would want dual triggers aside from symmetrical reasons, it's more than possible. Just wire both switches up to the same contact on the host N64 controller - it's just a short to ground type switch.

Actually, I think I'd have to agree.

It'd be more symmetrical that way, like the PS2 controllers are. The Dreamcast and N64 controllers have always bugged me that way.

You could do what I did and have L and Z on one side and R and Start on the other. This keeps it symmetrical and makes a nice place for start.

Or, you could do like me, and have a switch between L and Z , and then R on the other side!

If you like the "squishy" feel of the original controllers as opposed to clicky switches, you can use these: link
