Phono jack?

The book requires a phono jack thing, but radio shack does not seem to have it anymore. Is there any other place to get one?

At my local Shack, many jacks and plugs are now found in a large black metal chest of thin drawers, with drawers for different item categories color coded. You would probably want the "Audio Connectors" section, if your local store has a similar arrangement.

I was just worried since their website doesn't display it anymore. Hopefully they have it at the store.

Edit: Do I need to use a phono jack? Can I use something else, like a block of something that conducts electricity?

That looks like it! Is that it? I just removed the a at the end of the product number Ben gave. Hopefully it is just set on it's side in that pic though..

I am currently having the same issue. The part on the site as well as in the book are no longer carried at radio shack. I have searched for a few hours and have not come across any phono jacks that resemble the one shown in the book. Any help guys?

I would either scavenge one from dead electronics, or buy one on ebay. RadioShack sucks now.

Yep, that's the list I'm going by now. But the phono jack still isn't updated and mouser carries so many different kinds of phono jacks. I'm not sure what to go for unless there is a detailed picture of the item.

if you've already found the part, I'm sorry for this late post, but what I meant was that radioshack has that part on their website. I know b/c i just ordered that exact part off the radioshack website no more than 2 weeks ago

The exact part? It still doesn't show for me. However, if you take away the "a" in the vendor part code, this pops up. Is this what you ordered?

My package arrived from Radio Shack this morning, Model: 274-246 is indeed the correct part to be using for the phono jack.

Nope, I believe the nintendo project needs 4 solder points so that part wont work. The one I linked two posts up has 5 solder points, perfect!

Just salvage one from old electronics. It shouldn't be hard to do. Or use a different type of plug. Just improvise.
