the other day i was in the source and i spotted this atari thing on sale for $20
I opened it up, the insides are quite small, do you think it would be possible to put a cart slot on this one? im at school on my lunch break so i cant post any photos of the insides or the board, if anyone knows any info about this thing let me know please.

That is the original flashback, which is actually powered by the same hardware as an NES (Ironic, eh?). The FlashBack 2.0 is actually a real atari on a chip, which you can add a cart slot to.
Long story short, no cart slot, only the badly made remakes of real atari games.

It has no cart slot points, all the games are on a gloptop, but if you could scrape/solder to all those microscopic traces, yes.
The odds of you pulling that are are next to none, though.
I just encountered an "American Idol" DDR clone based on an NOAC. I will post more when I know more about it, but it is looking GOOD!
I have this coleco head to head thingy that also uses noac, its been in my crap that might be useful someday (ctmbus) bin and it still has no freakin use. As much as i would love a portable 2600, the fb2's are hard to find (besides ebay), and i tried to make a noacp but whenever i try to make one i fail when the thing dies for no apparent reason.

It is not the newer one, the Flashback 2.0 looks like a 2600, the original flashback 1 looks like a 7800, but plays 2600 games, for some bizarre reason. Way to go, Atari marketing department.
And at least where I am, you cannot buy the original flashback, it was discontinued. In fact, at my local "Target", they have the flashback 2.0 for only $20 USD.

I doubt the majority of people who buy one nowadays would care enough to know the difference, really.
If you want Atari games, you should just buy a real Atari. They're not terribly expensive, and they make you look cool and retro. However, putting a cartridge slot in a Flashback 2.0 would give you a well-deserved sense of accomplishment.
As for what to do with the 7800 mini, it might make a cool tissue box, at the very least. I'm sure someone else can come up with something better, though.

meh, ill probably just use the 5 volt circuit from the inside of it. Two days ago i got an atari 2600 jr and some games, im loving it! its so old yet so fun!

Actually, the Flashback 1 has 7800 and 2600 games on it. The original 7800 was also compatible with both 7800 and 2600 games. So for once they got the marketing right.
