can this battery be used on Atari 2600 portable?

I have a damaged video recorder (old school using mini VHS tape). If someone can help it would be great.

Wondering if the batteries can be used. The ones that i will use are Maxell M-6040. 6.0V 4300mAh

I know they are kind of large but i figured using them in this portable would give the batteries life again.
