Seriously. They suck.

Out of nowhere, Windows 7 bluescreened and the system rebooted. (I think it was some kind of buffer overflow or something.) So I tried to boot, but all it did was send power to the fans and drives, and sat with the hard drive activity LED stuck on. So I cleared the CMOS using the jumpers and tried again. This time the POST screen was in some kind of crazy Engrish ("Go! -> Pressing the F8 for build!" WTF?!). Hammering F1, F8, and Del brought Setup back up, and restoring the defaults fixed most of the errors. The motherboard also thought it would be fun to corrupt the hard drive to the point that even the regular XP install wouldn't read it. It's trying to fix it with CHKDSK now. If it has to be formatted, that's fine. It was blank to begin with.

Also this thing never shuts power off to the PS/2 ports, the LAN controller has died and resurrected itself a few times in the last couple years, and it thinks the power supply's voltages are all over the place. (HWmonitor says the -5 rail is way down near -12v, but another computer gives normal readings.)

New compy time. Probably going x58 if I get a job soon.

Which manufacturers are actually good? EVGA has that lifetime warranty...

My Asus mobo has served me well. Gigabyte is a good one too.

I have a gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and it was cos my pcchips screwed up on me...

Gigabyte is the best, hand down.
MSI and ASUS a close second/third.

ASUS is in the crapper right now financially, they say they blame the economy. So when every business goes under or is suffering, they are gonna blame the economy.

ASUS quality control of their boards has gone downhill, judging by the reviews for their board on Newegg.

Yeah I have a Gigabyte GA-SA780GM-S2H (might not be right, I am trying to remember the board model from the top of my head.)

It IS only a beta... random stuff goes wrong haha. My roommate's just blue-screened on his and wouldn't let him reboot at all so he had to install Vista.

Biostar (Only 3rd party brand that is good)

I have a Biostar T-Power 45HP Motherboard and it's great. It supports SLI/Crossfire, has good overclocking, onboard power and reset buttons (which actually helped me when my case didn't power on the computer because my wiring of the power button was wrong). Great, Cheap Motherboard.

ASUS or FOXCONN for me. I avoid all others. PC Chips is just pure crap spewed out of China with few (if any) QC.
