Something that may be helpful (but a bit more money)

After looking at a large number of the portables here I've noticed a few things.

An easier way to add a screen may be to add one of these, instead of trying to mod the PSONE LCD screen:

With the Standard/Universal Model you can connect it directly to any A/V input.

So with this, instead of adding a screen, wiring the output to a set of A/V plugs you could add this, making room for memory cards(for those systems that use them) or more battery space for longer usage.

I thought about this for a while a ways back, but you may as well just get a virtual boy.

They are really not all they are cracked up to be, and you will have a hard time showing it off. Besides, you have to know where all the buttons are pretty well if you cannot see them.

This is true, but for something like the NES, SNES, Genesis, or plain old handhelds, like the GB, GBC, GBA, Game Gear or most of the "Plug N' Play" systems, there aren't that many buttons and most people know those better than the backs of their own hands.

I was thinking more that the system be done up like a normal portable, but no screen, just A/V output to use these instead.
