EDIT: 2,432 3DMarks in 3DMark 06.

Time for a new compy. But I guess it goes to show you that anything, even a relatively junk PC with bad components, can run Windows 7.
Wanna bet I can do waaay worse than that? I post my results in a bit.

I still can't run the performance thing though. It always freezes at the media part.

The Windows 7 installer so far HATES my computer. I tried both the 64-bit and 32-bit version. And so far, I keep into running into the same glitch. I even used non USB keyboard and mouse, removed my (useless) Dial Up Modem, and unplugged my USB Wifi adapter. But still had the same problem.

I'm going to try again tonight to install. But this time, I'm hooking my computer up directly to the internet cable. And see if it's a problem related to getting updates while install.

It's been 3 days and I'm still loving it. As long as Microsoft doesn't go and screw Windows 7 up somehow, I think it will be the true successor of XP.

I love Windows 7, no doubt, and will be buying the full retail OEM version for my laptop.

Better than Vista, hands down.

Agreed, and not just Vista, it runs faster on my computer than XP!

BTW: does anyone know where to get Soundblaster drivers that work in 7?

So is this like a ME vs 2000 thing? Vista vs. 7?

Also, how's game compatibility? Is it like Vista? or more like XP, where it can actually run games?

And with the beta, I don't suppose those who have beta can get the full version for free?

Ah, interesting Aguilz. My laptop's fan also runs WAY too much on Vista. My old laptop would only run the fan when it did something "tough", new one thinks "oh, I've on wall power, time to GO FOR IT!"

Less fan would be a good improvement.

That said, I still think [7] is probably just Vista SP2, really. Keep in mind XP was just 2000 reskinned and with better plug & play.

I don't see what people have against their system using RAM. That's what it's there for, and is faster than a swap file.

Agreed, Ben.

It's also an improvement in terms of temperature. It's not a "lap heater" or even "lap scorcher" when you put it on your lap... Until I play Youtube HD or something intensive.

Installed Windows 7 on my Advent 4211 netbook(Re branded MSI Wind)

Seems to run better than XP! Ended up having to remove XP as the boot sequence wouldn't allow me to boot into XP after installing 7.

So now my main OS is Windows 7 :)

Game compatibility is fine. I haven't run into a single error in WoW or any of my 35 Steam Games.

Btw, my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS had drivers installed after the first Windows Update.

So whats in the new update? I restarted instead of shut down by accident, and just ended going onto XP instead of looking back onto w7.
