It's a thin LCD glass with a small board on the back and a ribbon cable connecting the two. It has a control board with Power In, On/OFF, Video in, Contrast Brightness Tint and screen flip switches but you can remove that and wire simply +VCC (around 6 volts), GND and video to the screen board, the other settings defaults are fine.

It uses LED's for lighting and takes about 250mA at 6 volts.

Nope. It's got a few coils on the back, but it uses white LED's. What you see is all you need.

I'll probably have a small hole on the back of the Phoenix that leads to a 1k pot in front of the video amp circuit. This could be used for a person to adjust the brightness to their liking (does the same thing basically)

This thing is gonna be a snap to build!

Youch though. It's pretty expensive for an lcd when you can get a hip gear or psone lcd for such a small price.

Back again. Quick stop here before I update the Phoenix info.

The prototype is done! The color timer pot seems a little loose/flaky so I need to swap it out but everything else is fine. Check the main page later for the update.

I did try the TV off the 5 volt regulator (same one running the Atari) It still works but the picture is a little unstable. It also increased the power consumption (the lower the voltage used the higher the amp draw) from about 650 to 775mA. So I'd recommend running it off direct battery power (in this case, about 7.5 volts)

Anyway the screen seems to work great and remember it's 3.5". Even though it's only about $20 than a standard off-the-shelf pocket TV it's so much more compact and easy to use I don't care. Sure it's nearly 75% of the unit's cost but I don't care!

On the AEI page it's the 3.5" LCD Monitor (LED Backlight)

Aright, I've got to finish my sandwich,do the Phoenix update, then get the files ready for the mold case I'm cutting tomorrow.

That resin case better work too!! It'd suck to have to cnc the cases (mainly because of the added cost)
