newb making genesis portable

Hi I have 2 newbish questions (first time posting)

I got a sega radica tv game at a flea market and I'm wondering if it can be made in to a portable heres a picture of it.

I ask because all the sega genesis radica portables I've seen made seem to use the ones with the red controllers.

also to add a cart slot do I have to desolder the little board that holds the rom chip?
