batteries?

Post by monster »

what reccomendations do you have for batteries? i'm thinking Li-Ion batteries because they are pretty even voltage until they are dead, so i won't have to make too much circuitry (pretty much just a regulator).

y'all know what to look for in a bettery, compact, high capacitance, etc. what do you reccomend?

There are serval types;
Alkaline, you would only use these with systems and screens that have a low draw. Like a NOAC with a tv or hip screen modded with LEDs.
Ni-CD, rechargable but have memory and dont last as long as other rechargables.
Ni-MH, this is the best option for most people. Good capacity, recharge fast and you can canablise the charger to work in your portable.
Li-ion, perhaps the best in capacity and will keep voltage up the longest. However will cost more and requires specific chargers.
Li-poly, havent hard or seem much, but they are said to have a great capacity and thinner then Li-ion.

For more info about batteries look on Doomportables.org.

If you go for Ni-Mh batterys, get the Ray-o-Vac 15 minute rechargeable kind. (they also sell a knockoff version at Radio Shack) They rock!! 8)
