Rewiring the buttons from the controller motherboard?

Alright I've already tried google on how to rewire buttons but no luck on guides.

I plan to make mi portable like most others do, with the buttons built into the case, however I'm not sure if I just solder the leads on the button to the buttons I'm going to use.

So how do I attach buttons to the pads on the n64 motherboard?

But generally, yes. Do what you said. You can find other more convenient places to solder the wires though, since they dont really stick to the black pads very well.
