Gameboy Colour - modding virginity...

Hey guys, gret site.

Reading all about these differing mods got me all jealous, so heres what I am planning to do:

1. make this into a custom paint-job:

2. Use a rechargeable PSP battery like this:

(obviously recessed)

3. And proof its a real psp battery:

But i needsum help...

I need to improve the sound as its crap at the mo, routing the battery is easy, but i want to be able to recharge through the gameboy - can i just use the dc adapter socket?

Any charger that's the right voltage will work, with any type of connector.

Incorrect, you cannot charge through the DC jack.

To charge the PSP battery, you would need to fit a PSP battery charging circuit in the GBC. Unfortunately, they are way too big. Unless you are a real SMT soldering wizard, plan on using an external charger.

Buy this open it up and make a plug and cable for the gameboy.

and while you're at it, you may as well add a backlight, no? Especially seeing as how you're putting in a powerful battery.

Just a suggestion. Bibin and palmertech are the go-to guys if you need help with it.

SMT = Surface-MounT soldering.

Components that are soldered on top of the board and not through a hole.

While this is probably possible with some diffuse-layer moddery, it's not anything that we know enough about to say that it works, so I'd not do this for now if I were you.

Don't be so qiuck to say no, Kyo. :P

The answer is that while it IS possible, it is insanely hard. The DS screen protocol has been reverse engineered, as has the GBC one. While possible to do, I don't think anybody on these forums can help you with that. :(

So, in theory, yes. In practice, no.

I may be making it too complicated, but I hate it when there are still unsaid ways to do it. :lol:

It's not worth the effort, plus you'd need a translation IC. I'm sticking with my no. Otherwise we could keep telling people yes when they ask if they can use laptop screens

To charge mine all I did was take an original psp power supply and attach it to the positive and negative leads, not the ones you used cause I think my batterys way different. Mine is working fine so far.
