Madcatz screen on eBay

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

This is a good screen right? The low price has me wondering... aren't these the same ps1 screens in a different case?

But it says Playstation One LCD Screen? What's the controls in the middle under the screen?

it's not a firstparty one. The controls are laid out differently. this one probably sucks

Think it's worth trying out for only $16+shipping? If it's meant to work with PSone, then does it have all the right components, but just in a different layout?

1st Party PS LCDs are great quality, which is why they're so popular.

That one isn't.

I wouldn't be so hasty in your decision.

720x480 resolution sounds about right.
Those connectors look about right.
That weight looks about right.

I'd go for it. Even if the resolution is that tricky thing where they double it on you, that's still 360 x 240, which is enough to display something like SNES just fine.

I saw that one and wondered the same thing. The companies that use the sony screens don't modify the board at all so the buttons stay in the same spot. It's cheaper for them to keep it the same and just put it in a different shell.

This is a screen for the psone. Has it ever occured to ANY of you that while those were being sold, sony was selling them as well and not giving away their technology to the concurrence for no reason?

Hmmm... I think I'll pass on trying this one out. I'm a porta-noob and already have 4 screens on the way anyway. Thanks for the feedback though guys!
