PS2 Help

Post by Samui »

I want to embed the controller into my portable, at the same time I want to be able to use an external for 1P input if I wanted to. Is there a way I can do this without the use of a switch?

You could install a momentary tact switch inside the P1 port. That way whenever a controller is inserted, the tact switch switches control to the external input.

I don't know if you'd do this with switching grounds or if you'd need a 4066 IC, but this would do the trick.

switching grounds should work.

Thanks, I'll look into the momentary tact switch idea.

I made the thread more general now. Any components on the PS2 board that are pretty much useless (in example the optical port), and best ways to get around them?

I was just thinking you solder the controller's connections to the same spot and you're done with it.

but I guess potentially two controllers in the same slot would confuse the system, right?

might work - might not. It depends on how "active" the controller is. You could just give it a try first.
