time for me to take an electronics class.

has anyone else gone to get these? I just got back from getting one and it clicks like one of the aliens from Signs while playing music. Maybe I got a bad one.

They're fairly low quality (what do you expect) but I plan on getting a bunch more tomorrow. The girl at the register said that she's already gotten a few people doing the 1 cent trick.

Something inside of me says that that schematic is partially moot. You don't have a ground reference for the amp IC. That's what R1+/- and C1+/- are for, you just forgot to connect fround to the spot between the caps and the resistors.

yeah i might have forgot to draw the ground symbol there, the power supply part of the circuit is just a voltage divider anyway. i drew that at like 4am one night as a favor for project_failure

Hi, i picked up a couple of these and hooked them up, but the sound is WAY too loud. Does anyone know of a way to add a volume dial or something to this amp? Thanks.

I dont know how to adjust the volume on the amp, but I usually find the happy medium by adjusting the volume of the device connected to the speaker. That is, if that device has volume control.

I sent payment to schmellyfart for 8 of these yesterday; my thoughts are that if the amps are no use, the value of the speaker inside is worth it!

Yes, if you hook it to an MP3 player you can control volume via the MP3 player (I do that with something else).

Another source for cheap audio amps is small PC speakers or MP3 speakers, the ones which take batteries. The boards are small inside in most cases.

Yeah, the device im using this for doesn't have a volume control. What i made is a portable playback monitor for a buddy of mine, like a portable system but it just has composite hookups so he can plug in his camera. I was hoping maybe i could just solder a dial on a couple points on the board to adjust it. Thanks.

With audio signals, resistance = decreased volume, right?

So, you should be able to just wire a potentiometer in-line, right?

Yeah, that's what i assumed, but I'm not sure it would work, let alone where to wire in the potentiometer.I have a couple extra, so I can try it. But again, I'm not even sure where to wire it in. Thanks.
