Only on my laptop though, because the school computers have an additional block, as well as the WiFi blocks.
Our school's Wifi is completely open, once you're logged in. All ports open, nothing blocked; it's highly exploitable.

I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.
Ah, yes, school filters. Lets see here, I remember trying to go to the NRA website for research and discovered that it was blocked because apparently if we can't go to websites that discuss legal use of firearms then we won't go on a homicidal rampage. Anyways, the way we would get around many typical blocks like that was to instead of http://www...etc, we'd go to https://www...etc
Now, senior year when I was in high-school, I took a computer science class. In that classroom, all of the computers were blocked from the entirety of the internet with the exception of the Sun-Microsystems website. the ol' https trick wouldn't work since EVERYTHING was blocked. So what did we do? We installed Mozilla Firefox onto flashdrives and plugged those into the computers. from there, we'd connect to a proxy server to circumvent the school's filters. good times.

It always worked for me, might work for you too.
EDIT: You must ping the address first or it doesn't work.

yeah, batch files were another trick we used. We mostly messed with them just to beat the system.
another one we did was disconnecting the network cable after logging on but before permissions were assigned. That way we still get to log in to the network/computer, but would be given restricted access. after logging in was complete we could plug the network adapter back in and be on the network.
I don't think my school blocks this site, but I don't think I've checked recently. Hackaday is blocked because of "hacks", gmail is blocked, haven't tried "https:", of course hotmail isn't blocked. I can still check my gmail on my iGoogle.
I haven't tried much to get past the filters. I rarely use the computers at school, so if I got something to work it wouldn't benefit me much. Plus they can watch/take control of your computer remotely, and I don't feel like getting banned from the computers. Unless I could still get on their wifi with my own device...
