Are we honestly that small?

Post by DJ711 »

Today in class, well mostly a free period I tried to get on my regular sites and it actually let me on this site! Let me tell you something about my school's internet security filter, it doesn't even let you on Aolmail or anything so if I was really shocked. So forum members are we honestly that small of a site that barely anyone knows about us besides the random guests and members?
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

My school blocks it. :/ It's only a matter of time before they find out you're going on here, then they'll block it.

The error when I try to go here is "Modding/Hacking Site". It'll also let me go on Hackaday, but not Hacked Gadgets.

For a while, I used a program used called UltraSurf, but the school got smart and blocked the port it uses... If only I could change the port...

Benheck is rather high up in google's search engine listings.

While searching for it, I found a site the the old Benheck.com, his address, zip code, phone number, fax number, email (a @mwt.net one)

For obvious reasons, I'm not posting that.

Here's a cache from June 5, 2004:

Yeah, I understand. I wish so too, but I would only use it so I can check my mail...damn filter.

My school blocks this site. :(

Ultrasurf works well, so does Toonel. I have my own proxy server (running Glype) at my house for "backups" when the two fail.

What's wrong with a modding/hacking site? Schools are such jerks about such things. If you ask me it should be illegal to filter the internet or anything else. I'm pretty sure that's unconstituional in the US. But I'm not sure, because I'm not American.

When you're in school, you're giving away as many of your rights as they want to take.

They have the right to make any rule that doesn't break a criminal law. (e.g. they can't kill you) But they can can deny you anything inside of their establishment.
When you enroll, you agree not to visit certain sites that they deem not educational, and that could mean anything. They could ban every site but yahoo.com if they wanted. You signed the contract.

My school blocks forums.benheck.com but not the main site. However; this is easily bypassed by simply going to benheck.com/forums, which still works for everything except logging in. When logging in to the forums, I can authenticate on benheck.com/forums, but the page it then redirects me is blocked. If I then go back to benheck.com/forums, I am logged in.

I can do that with new.facebook at my school.
Only on my laptop though, because the school computers have an additional block, as well as the WiFi blocks.

AnchorFree's HotspotShield is loaded on my laptop for ban-evasions in school when I bring it. My laptop is mine and I can do anything - even thrash it - and the contract has no rule for my laptop.

You should take all occurrences of the word "proxy" off.
My school will block the site just because it's in the URL, and it's in the page title.

I'm not trying to be selfish, it would just be more useable for a lot of people if it wasn't labeled.

At my highschool, I could bypass the internet filter by pinging the address, then typing the pinged IP address into the address bar.

Go to: Start > Run

Then type in: ping benheck.com

The command prompt will pop up:

Then open up your web browser and type the IP address into the address bar.

It always worked for me, might work for you too.

EDIT: You must ping the address first or it doesn't work.
